He kept my baby
Do you know there are things God has done which are incredible and somehow we have forgotten them and just moved on with life. Do you agree that most people tend to dwell for longer periods mourning over loss but rejoice only too briefly when great things have happened.
God commanded the Israelites to make it a yearly feast to celebrate their coming out of Egypt. He told them to celebrate this with their families. This was pleasing to Him.
Deuteronomy 16 :1&12.
vs1. Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover unto the Lord thy God: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.
vs11. And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
Our fathers of old, made monuments when God did great things in their life.
Genesis 22:13-14:
vs 13. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
vs 14. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
He called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh! It would be a story and a location to be told endlessly to his children and their children.
David said in Psalm 77:11 – 12:
I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
The point I am making is that we need to continue to make a BIG DEAL about what God has done. This way we will remain thankful and He is pleased with our sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving. We will also be reminded that our God is good and He is able! We glorify Him this way.
Dear Father, may I not forget your goodness. Father, you have done great things and I just want to say thank you in a special way.
Dear reader, God has done amazing things and scripture says we should tell of His works and not forget all His benefits.
I have been going down memory lane intentionally and just been recalling things, and I must tell you it has been overwhelming in a good way just thinking about God’s goodness and how He came through in so many ways. There are many instances, some I can’t share now, because I’m being instructed on how to share, some I will share subsequently.
Psalm 145 King James Version (KJV):
vs 4. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
vs 5. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.
vs 6. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.
vs 7. They shall abundantly utter the MEMORY of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.
James 1:17:
For every good and perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, in whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
If it is not good, it is not God. For every good gift in my life, I intentionally recall and re-celebrate over and over again.
I refuse to FORGET. I BREAK OUT IN A DANCE! I BREAK OUT IN A SONG.
David said in Psalm 103 (KJV)
vs 2. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS:
MY MONUMENT for November the 18th 2016.
It had been a long 9 months and the 18th had come. This was my EDD (Expected Date Of Delivery). My son had been spot on with all his inutero assessments. Everything about him was excellent and God had kept me strong throughout my pregnancy.
I was at that point of pushing, I pushed and pushed and out he came! But …..he was quiet….he was quiet…..
Nkiru the doctor, Nkiru the mum, thoughts racing through my head, the emergency bell had been pulled, I knew every second mattered, every minute added up, but Fijinoluwa hadn’t cried yet!….Father, Father. There was talk, the paediatricians were with him, trying to resuscitate him, my husband stood by my side…Lord no, this cannot be.
The silence had become too long!!!!!
What would my son’s APGAR score be? (The APGAR score is a score given on assessment of the baby in the first minutes of life).
Has he sustained any hypoxic brain injury (injury due to low oxygen levels)? (Forgive my medical terms).
At this point I screamed!
“Can someone tell me why my son is not crying!”.
It was not clear according to the doctors, but they decided to keep him in the special care baby unit. His initial APGAR score was a 4 in 10? A 4????? Readers that is low. The total is 10. Low scores indicate a poorer outcome.
But this is why I am praising my FATHER! ONISE IYANU!!!! THE GOD OF AWESOME WONDERS!!
Because of his mercies, our son spent probably just 1 hour in the special care baby unit. He did not need anything. He was brought back to me. The doctors told me that if there had been any effect, it would show in the future and I won’t be able to tell now.
When my sister heard what had happened, she told me that her and her husband had prayed over this scenario because they had seen it in a dream, that my baby would come out struggling to breathe.
Daddy dalu! Daddy Imela! Daddy thank you!. (dalu and imela are my native words for ‘thank you’, ‘ you have done well’ respectively).
My son is now 19months+ and can say all his colours, my son knows his numbers from 1 to 10, my son can identify all the letters of the alphabet, he is one of the smartest babies of his age!
AH! AH! (full of joy).My God is good and His mercies endureth forever!. It was His mercy! It was His grace. I will not take it for granted. I just want to say:
THANK YOU DADDY!. ONISE IYANU! ONISE IYANU!, EKWUEME!!, ALAGBADA INA! GOOD FATHER! (native words of praise).
Please worship and praise Him with me….
THE ALMIGHTY, THE LOVING, THE GOOD, THE GREAT, THE AWESOME KING OF KINGS!! I LOVE YOU DADDY. May we Celebrate your goodness in your lives, and not gloss it over too quickly.
Can I encourage you to remember? Can I ask that you intentionally recall the goodness of God in your life.
He is responsible for everything good.
Have there been any negative things that have happened in your life? Some have happened in mine. We have an adversary who comes to steal to kill and destroy but the Father is good. He does only good. As we continue to grow in the word and in knowledge of who we are as sons and daughters of God, the enemy will not stand a chance against us. He will neither be able to steal, kill nor destroy us or anything related to us.
Praise Father God, Praise Him, Praise Him, Praise Him.
