And now “THE BEGATS” make sense to me! Have you ever wondered why “ the begats” are listed in scripture? Well, for the sake of record purposes of course, but then, recently something happened when I read those scriptures, the word “BEGAT” jumped out at me like never before!
Look at this;
Matthew 1:2
Abraham BEGAT Isaac, and Isaac BEGAT Jacob, and Jacob BEGAT Judas and his brethren
Now read this;
James 1:18 Of his own will BEGAT he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.
Wow! like never before I saw that I was born by the Word. If I was born by the word then of course my life source is the word.
New life by the Word
Our lives as sons and daughters of God started when we heard and received the word into our spirits concerning Jesus Christ our Lord.
1John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God
Halleluyah! once once we believed, we became!. Jesus is The word.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
So you see the word we heard and received about Jesus into our spirits and believed, gave birth to us, making us sons and daughters of God!
This is so key that we can see this so much more clearly, because this life we live now in Christ started out by the word of God, so to grow our spirits, and walk in the fullness of who are, we have to feed on the word because it is our life source. It made us!.
There’s more!
The word of God will Transform you
Do you know that the more we look into the word and let the word get into our hearts through our eyes and ears, we become the word. We live by the word, we grow by the word. Our flesh grows with food, but our spirits grow by the word. See my post about the word our food here. The more we behold The Word, the more we become like Him, like Jesus. This was God’s plan.
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
You see this was God’s plan for us all, to be like Jesus. Now when I read scriptures about Jesus, I see that I am looking at me. I renew my mind accordingly.
How do we get conformed into the image of Jesus?
As we “behold the glory of the Lord” we become transformed into the same image.
2Corinthians 3:18 But we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord.
Beholding the glory of God, beholding the Word
What is or rather who is the glory of God? Jesus The Word!
Hebrews 1:2-3 God who Hath in these last days spoken unto his by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds, who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father.
Jesus is the brightness of God’s glory and the more we behold him, the more we become him. He is our life. We died with Him and the life we live now, we live by Christ. Galatians 2:20
The word of God is our mirror
When we look into the word and forget what we have seen, we forget who we are. We cannot afford to stay away from the word.
James 1:23-24 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
This tells me that the word shows me who I am.
This is why Paul describes looking into the word, beholding the glory of God, beholding the word, as looking into a glass or a mirror! A mirror shows you your image! The word shows me who I am and the more I look, the more I see, the more I see, the more I become! By the Spirit of God.. 2Cor 3:18
Paul said in 1Cor 13;12 for now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face
Again He talks about the glass! The mirror of the word! Guess what?, soon we won’t need to look through a glass, but face to face and just like John said in 1John ;
1John 3:2 Beloved now are we sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is
Awesome! Right now I am a God’s son or daughter and the more I behold the glass/mirror of the word, the more I am transformed to the image of Christ, until I see him face to face , and see him as he is and be fully like him!
We cannot live outside the word of God
I am committed to daily meditate on the word, to see it, hear it, and speak it so I can grow! Grow into full maturity in Christ. One of my mentors Andrew Wommack talks about the vital importance of sowing the word of God in our hearts to release it’s life giving power.
1Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.
Since I got a hold of this truth, I dare not go one day without the word in my heart. It is my very life source, I think it once I wake up, I hear it while I drive to work, I mutter it under my breath, I look at it on my phone, I watch it on TV, I am committed to the word daily and I see myself changing, praise God!. Double up on the word and you’ll be amazed at your transformation.
